The caramote prawn, also known as the imperial prawn, is a species native to the Mediterranean Sea that lives on the seabed at depths between 50 and 100 m. Its very versatile meat makes it a common ingredient in many Italian recipes. It is caught with trawl nets throughout the Mediterranean Sea and packed in 1 kg trays.
